Staying in Naples’ historic centre means experiencing the city at its most authentic, even at the table. It is precisely amongst the ancient alleyways, bustling squares and centuries-old buildings that you’ll find true Neapolitan cuisine: the kind loved by Neapolitans even more than by tourists. The area where Casetta Correra is located allows you to walk to some of the city’s best pizzerias, historic trattorias, patisseries and street food spots, without needing a taxi or public transport.
Eating in the historic centre also means discovering a Naples shaped by traditions passed down through generations: pizza baked in a wood-fired oven, ragù simmering for hours, pasta alla Genovese, strong, aromatic coffee served at the counter, classic desserts and fish cooked according to traditional recipes. Here, food is not just gastronomy, but culture and identity.
A short list of places (with Google Maps links) recommended to me by guests at Casetta Correra.
Pizza. The most famous pizzerias near Casetta Correra are Sorbillo and Attilio; neither accepts bookings, so you’ll just have to resign yourself to queuing. Less famous but just as good are the pizzas at Vesi and the gourmet pizzas at Albero dei Visconti.
